Dan's story.
Dan Smith grew up in Huntington Beach. Not in the sense that he lived there — in the sense that he lived outside there. The beach, the backyard, the patio. In Southern California, the line between indoors and out is thin if you let it be.
That instinct followed him into his career. Dan spent years in residential outdoor landscaping across Southern California, but over time he kept gravitating toward one specific challenge: how do you make outdoor space feel as intentional and livable as the inside of a home?
The answer, he found, was to stop treating it like a yard project and start treating it like a room.
Pergolas became the foundation. Not just for shade, but as an architectural anchor that gives outdoor space the same kind of definition that a ceiling gives a living room. Layer in comfortable furniture, custom TV walls, fire, light and a kitchen — and suddenly you have somewhere you actually want to be every day.
Bespoke Exterior Living is the company Dan built around that idea. A platform for outdoor room design that starts free and goes as far as you want — from a concept rendering to a fully built space, and every step in between.
